The March 9th Digital SAT - In Retrospect

  • The sudden increased anxiety and diminished level of confidence generated by the Adapted Test's seemingly more difficult and unfamiliar questions affected students' immediate and overall performance, subsequent test results, and final score.
  • Students need not be totally alarmed when they see such "unfamiliar" math problems. They are designed to confuse you by twisting a "familiar" math concept, making the problem seem more difficult than it really is.
  • Some students were particularly discouraged by seeing 4 or 5 such challenging problems, especially consecutive ones. The fear subsided when the final Math score showed a minimal score decrease, and even in some cases, a score increase.
  • There are no Calculus problems on either the new Online Digital SAT or the current ACT. The highest level of Math tested is Trigonometry.
  • The Online Digital SAT Test is not curved. It is equated to account for test question difficulty. Answering a few Math questions incorrectly can still allow you to achieve a high level score.
  • Prepping with Mr. Ken Krueger, M.Ed, a graduate of Duke University, and a former college prep high school Math teacher with 15 years teaching experience and 25 years of tutoring and consulting experience, will most likely help you reach a new level of performance in the area of Math testing.
  • In addition, Ken ALSO provides invaluable SAT/ACT Grammar, Vocabulary, Punctuation, and English Usage tips and review. Most juniors are busy reading great books and writing expository, persuasive, and narrative essays in their English classes. On the Digital SAT, however, 67% of the Critical Reading and Writing module questions test rules regarding the above basic areas! For 25 years, Ken has tutored extensively in such areas while doing professional SAT/ACT English and Writing prep at his Phoenix office.
